He has worked across the spectrum of service providers encompassing express distribution and freight forwarding to global contract logistics and supply chain specialists. For the last ten years he has built a successful digital resourcing platform and consultancy service for the logistics industry.
Being at the coalface of recruitment he appreciates first-hand the skills and knowledge challenges facing the industry.

Tony Hodgins is the Finance Director for Skills for Logistics (2015). He is a qualified Chartered Accountant having worked for both PWC and Andersen’s. He is also a founding Director of the Peoplecare (Europe) Ltd group, which encompasses HR, Consultancy, Executive and Non-Executive Recruitment plus team build projects. In addition, he works with the local LEP assisting in the professional services group, he is also a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and Manufacture.

Andy Salter has spent a lifetime in road transport and has a vast experience of all aspects of the industry, from the doing (he started his working life as a truck driver) to the writing (a former editor of Commercial Motor). More latterly he has been focused on the strategic side of the industry as Managing Director of Road Transport Media, the organisers of Freight in the City and owners of the leading UK media brands in the road freight sector – Motor Transport, Commercial Motor and Truck & Driver.

Peter has over 30 years’ experience in international transportation, logistics and supply chain management; and is recognised as a principal of authority in global supply chains and logistics based on achievements at Director level with some of the world’s leading global logistics providers.
A Graduate of the Institute of Export and Member of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, Peter’s career started in the export shipping department of Courtaulds plc, before joining his family's freight forwarding company, D H Ward (Shipping) Ltd, where he became Managing Director. In 1994 he masterminded the Company's merger with American-owned Fritz Companies, which under his leadership became a top-five forwarder in Europe prior to acquisition by UPS in 2001. More recently Peter was Director Europe of P&O Nedlloyd Logistics, and Commercial Director at DP World London Gateway prior to joining UKWA as Chief Executive in January 2015.
Peter has significant practical experience of international process design and network optimisation throughout Europe, Asia and North America; designing and delivering complex supply chain solutions in different logistics and client organisations worldwide, with an impressive history of multiple client cost and service benefits across various industry sectors.
Simon Arnold FCIOB
MD of N-Gaged
Following a successful career in property and sports development Simon founded N-Gaged Training and Recruitment Ltd in October 2008. The company was set up to deliver training solutions designed to fit the needs of logistics employers. From humble beginnings based within the headquarters of Saville’s Freights the company has now relocated to the prestigious Beeches Hotel and Conference Centre with a turnover close to 2 million pounds a year.
As well as being Managing Director of N-Gaged Training Simon is Chairman of the Western Training Providers Network representing four Colleges and thirty independent training providers within the
West of England. Simon also sits on the West of England LEP Skills Board and the Distribution Sector Group.
Simon still maintains his interests in sport and is Chairman of Bristol City Women’s Football Club. Having started the team in 1998 he has led the club to two FA Cup Finals, and two appearances in
the European Champions league.
Logistics and Human Resources Professional
Colin is a logistics professional with a wealth of knowledge in Road Transport Logistics and Human Resources and apprenticeships in the Logistics Sector. Acknowledged for being the only person to write a successful bid to the Employer Ownership of Skills Pilot in the Logistics Sector for an award winning schools and college based apprenticeship programme and Chair the Supply Chain and Logistics Sector Trailblazer Apprenticeships.
Colin has worked in the Logistics Sector since leaving school and joining the Army in the Royal Corps of Transport and serving for 23 years achieving the role of Master Driver. Since leaving the Forces, Colin has held roles with Parcelforce and The Nagel Group in General Management and Head of HR roles. Colin was educated in the Army and achieved his Degree in Business Studies and Strategy from the Open University after leaving the Forces.
